FAQ
THE VENUE
1. WHERE ARE THE CHALETS LOCATED?
In the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area, in the village resort of Châtel, at an elevation of 1,200 meters. The Linga neighborhood is quiet and sunny. A 15-minute walk from the village, or a 5-minute drive. Since the hamlet is built on a mountainside, access to the chalets is only possible via stairs from the parking lot (not accessible to people with reduced mobility).
2. HOW DO YOU GET AROUND ONCE YOU'RE THERE?
Whether you’re getting around the village of Châtel using the free shuttle service or traveling throughout the Abondance Valley, a bus and shuttle service is available to you… The free shuttles run throughout the village and to all points of interest. There’s a stop right at the foot of the chalets. Shuttles run every 20 minutes on average, though this may vary depending on the season. You can download the Pysaé app to track the shuttles in real time. Buses run throughout the valley and to and from the Thonon-les-Bains train station.
3. HOW FAR ARE THE CHALETS FROM THE SLOPES?
600 meters from the first slopes and the Linga gondola. The resort has three ski areas; this gondola serves the middle one. From there, you can reach the Super-Chatel area and Switzerland, or the Pré la Joux and Avoriaz areas. The slopes range in elevation from 1,200 to 2,200 meters, and the resort enjoys reliable snow conditions.
4. HOW FAR AWAY ARE THE SKI SCHOOLS?
The Châtel resort has three ski areas. The ESF meeting points vary depending on the children’s age, the time of year, and their skill level. The “Piou-piou” club in the village of Les Marmottons is 800 meters away. There are three other private ski schools in Châtel: meeting points are at Pré la Joux, a 10-minute drive or shuttle ride away (large parking lot).
5. ARE THE OUTDOOR AREAS FENCED IN?
No, there are no fences or gates. It's practically impossible to get through because of the snow in winter. Please keep this in mind if you're bringing pets.
6. ARE THERE ANY STORES NEARBY?
There are several restaurants and pizzerias within a 500-meter radius. There are also several ski equipment rental shops.
STAY
1. CAN YOU ACCESS THE SLOPES IF YOU DON'T SKI?
Yes, many chairlifts and gondolas are open to pedestrians. So you can meet up on the slopes for lunch, for example.
2. ARE THERE ANY ACTIVITIES OR ENTERTAINMENT OPTIONS IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER, OR FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T SKI?
See the "Exploring the Area Around the Lodges" page by clicking here.
3. WHAT ARE THE CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT TIMES? IS EARLY OR LATE CHECK-IN/OUT AVAILABLE?
Check-in begins at 4:00 p.m., and check-out is by 10:00 a.m. These times are for reference only: the chalets are often ready earlier, but this depends on the schedule. If you’d like to arrive early, please feel free to contact us the day before or the morning of your arrival so we can confirm your options.
Outside of the winter season, it’s usually possible to arrive in the morning and enjoy the chalet until noon on the day of departure.
Except in exceptional circumstances, we cannot guarantee check-in before 4:00 p.m. If you expect to arrive late or depart very early in the morning, please let us know in advance.
4. CAN WE BOOK SHORT STAYS?
Reservations are generally made on a weekly basis, from Saturday to Saturday, mainly during the winter months and between July 14 and August 15. Outside of these periods, we are much more flexible regarding length of stay and check-in/check-out dates.
In the winter, we can also accommodate last-minute short stays, depending on availability. During the off-season—in the spring and fall—we offer more flexible options, including weekend packages.
5. ARE THERE ANY RULES TO FOLLOW?
"My freedom ends where another's begins."
– Yes, we have a few rules to ensure a comfortable and safe stay. You’ll find them in the chalet’s welcome booklet.
– Out of consideration for the neighbors, please refrain from making noise between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
– For holidays, family gatherings, weddings, etc., it’s best to rent the entire hamlet.
– The herbs in the garden are free for the taking—please help yourself. But even if you love mojitos, please remember to leave some mint for the other guests 😉
6. HOW DOES CHECK-IN WORK?
We will welcome you personally. If you have any problems, we both live in the village, and you can contact us at any time during your stay; we’re available to answer any questions you may have.
